Cootje:
I asked my Japanese friend Keiko what would be the name of this kind of kimono for a man.
She said that it might be Wata-ire.
If anybody has another suggestion for the name, I am open to it, please let me know.
So this is a brown wata-ire, made of
outer layer : a silk pongé, painted with batik technique.
in between layer: a merino wool called Flyffel
inner layer: an organza silk dye with the shibori technique.
these three are felted together in the 'Nuno-Felt' technique, and made into a 'wata-ire'.
Warm, light and comfortable. Large size.
